Program Description
The Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences PhD Program, which envisages an integrated education, aims to develop scientific thinking, knowledge and skills in understanding the concepts and applications of sports education science, synthesize field knowledge to develop methodologies, and achieve expertise in all technical areas. The program covers the following areas: Movement and Exercise Sciences, Physical Education and Sports Teaching, Psycho-social Aspects of Sports, Physical Activity for People with Disabilities, Sports Management and Recreation, and Sports and Health.
Our program aims to train physical education and sports scientists who are scientifically oriented, equipped with theoretical and practical knowledge, well-versed in current technology, aware of contemporary social and individual values, capable of contributing to science at the national and international levels, and possessing creative scientific thinking.
Those who have completed a master's degree in Physical Education and Sports Sciences and those who have completed a master's degree in a field other than Physical Education and Sports Sciences and accept the condition of “taking scientific preparation courses” at our Graduate School of Education may apply to our PhD program. Our graduates can work as faculty members at universities. They have access to advanced academic learning and research opportunities in sports sciences and acquire knowledge, skills, and expertise in related fields. Our graduates play an effective role in all kinds of organizations within sports sciences and work as experts in sports centers. They are trained to become leaders in their field in line with the education provided.
Physical Education and Sports Sciences Special Application Requires
Those who have a master's degree in Physical Education and Sports Sciences and other master's degree holders from fields other than Physical Education and Sports Sciences who agree to take “Scientific Preparation Courses” may apply.

Notarized copy of bachelor's degree or graduation certificate obtained from e-Government
Original copy of the bachelor's degree transcript, notarized copy, or e-government printout
Notarized copy of Master's degree diploma or e-government graduation certificate
Original Master's Degree Transcript, notarized copy, or e-government printout
Foreign Language Certificate (For application, a minimum score of 55 on the YDS or an equivalent score on exams listed in the YÖK Foreign Language Equivalency Table is required.)
ALES Exam Result (Including the result verification code, covering the last 5 years as of the registration date, with a score of 55 or above in the relevant score type.)
Original and photocopy of identity card
For male applicants, a recent Military Service Status Certificate (documents obtained from e-Government are accepted).
