Program Description
The Occupational Health and Safety PhD Program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand fundamental concepts and applications in occupational health and safety, including international best practices. Our PhD program provides students with knowledge, skills, and competencies such as protecting the health and safety of workers, interpreting issues from a scientific perspective, reaching new syntheses, conducting independent academic research, teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, and assuming responsibilities in national and international organizations. Our students prepare for their academic careers through their academic work and publications, and our program adopts a student-centered, industry-focused, and interdisciplinary education model.
Graduates of any thesis-based master's program, as well as students who were enrolled in non-thesis master's programs before February 6, 2013, and have graduated, may apply to PhD programs. Students who successfully complete the Occupational Health and Safety PhD Program are eligible to receive a Ph.D. degree in Occupational Health and Safety. Students with a bachelor's or associate's degree who are eligible to become occupational safety specialists are directly eligible to receive a Class A Occupational Safety Specialist certificate. As Class A Occupational Safety Specialists, they can work in public and private sector organizations in all hazard classes.
Program Structure
The Occupational Health and Safety PhD Program consists of a total of 21 credits, including 7 courses and a seminar course, and a thesis study comprising the doctoral qualification, thesis proposal, thesis supervision, and thesis defense stages.
