Program Description

Mechatronics engineering is an engineering discipline that emerges from the integration of knowledge in the fields of machinery, electronics, control, and computers. In this context, the courses offered in the program are formed by combining the fields of mechanics, electronics, software, control, and automation. Thus, within the scope of the program, many interdisciplinary studies based on mechatronic system design are developed through experimental and numerical analyses.

The Mechatronics Engineering program at Istanbul Gedik University offers two different master's degree options: thesis and non-thesis. In these programs, academia and industry work in close collaboration to produce solutions to problems encountered in industry. This collaboration is achieved through industry-oriented projects in the courses and studies at the Robot Technologies Application and Research Center. In addition to theoretical courses, students have the opportunity to develop themselves in this field by selecting design and modeling-oriented application courses.

Graduates of the Mechatronics Engineering Master's Program without thesis can find employment in defense and automotive industries, aircraft manufacturing, robot integration, biomedical systems, aviation industry, renewable energy production or facilities producing these technologies, hydroelectric power plants, iron and steel industry, ceramics and glass industry, food and pharmaceutical industries, textile industry, machinery and manufacturing sector, energy distribution sites, chemical and petrochemical plants, elevator and escalator manufacturing companies, shipbuilding industry and shipyards, etc.

Program Structure

The Master's program in Mechatronics Engineering consists of a total of 30 credits, including 10 courses and a term project. The term project is not credited and is graded as either successful or unsuccessful. The duration of the Master's program is a minimum of two and a maximum of three semesters. The scientific preparation program is not taken into account in the calculation of the duration. Semesters in which the student is not enrolled are included in the maximum duration.
