Program Description

The field of clinical psychology focuses on providing lifelong support and assistance to individuals and communities in cases where mental health and daily functioning are impaired or disrupted in physical, mental, and social domains. Clinical Psychology encompasses a broad physical, mental, and social framework, which requires an understanding of concepts from all areas of psychology. In addition, the protection of mental health requires competent professionals who possess the concepts, techniques, theoretical knowledge, and practical skills to support individuals in cases of impairment or dysfunction within this broad framework.

Our Master's Program in Clinical Psychology aims to train qualified professionals, Clinical Psychologists, to meet the growing need in this field both in our country and around the world. The objectives of our program are (1) to train clinical psychologists who are aware of the principles and ethical responsibilities of the profession, sensitive to individual and cross-cultural differences and needs, and capable of conducting public awareness and prevention efforts in the field of mental health; (2) open to new ideas as well as their own thoughts, capable of critical thinking, and able to follow innovations in the field of clinical psychology with a critical perspective; (3) able to observe and identify bio-psycho-social problems that may arise throughout human life; (4) knows and can apply basic psychological assessment, psychological assistance, and intervention techniques; (5) can synthesize the similarities and differences between psychotherapy approaches, learn and apply the intervention techniques of a specific psychotherapy approach under supervision; (6) can conduct research at a level that reflects clinical practice in the scientific field; analyze research data, interpret results, and generate new hypotheses; (7) work within their own discipline and in teams with other disciplines; and follow national and international literature to keep abreast of innovations and developments in the field.

The education program is designed to develop the theoretical knowledge and skills related to the psychology profession that students acquire at the university through practical application. In addition to theoretical and practical courses aimed at providing basic clinical skills in the field of mental health and compulsory courses related to scientific research methods, the program offers a wide range of elective courses that students can choose according to their preferences. Our Master's Program in Clinical Psychology grants graduates a Master's degree and the title of Specialist Clinical Psychologist.

Program Structure

The thesis-based Master's program in Clinical Psychology consists of a total of 36 credits, including 10 courses, seminars, internships, and supervision. The seminar course and thesis work are not credited and are graded as pass or fail. The duration of the thesis-based master's program is a minimum of four and a maximum of six semesters. The scientific preparation program is not considered in the calculation of the duration. Semesters in which the student is not enrolled are included in the maximum duration.
