Program Description

Since 2011, Istanbul Gedik University's Vocational School of Applied Sciences has been offering the Chemical Technology Program, providing education and training in the field of chemistry to train chemical technicians and meet the industry's demand for skilled workers. Additionally, the faculty members involved in the program have continued their academic activities.

As a university, we aim to take the experience and knowledge we have gained over the years in chemistry education and research to the next level through our Chemistry Master's Degree Program. Through this program, we aim to provide the industry with specialized and highly skilled human resources, particularly in our country but also globally, to meet the current needs of the chemical industry. Chemistry, as an indispensable central science throughout human history, holds a crucial place in our modern era. Therefore, enhancing and continuing academic activities in this field is among the sustainable goals of our university.

The Chemistry Master's Program with Thesis aims to train researchers who will contribute to the production and dissemination of new technologies in academia and industry, and who are proficient in analysis, synthesis, and high-performance computing, with a deep knowledge base. To this end, the Chemistry Master's Program conducts its studies with both a research-oriented and interdisciplinary approach and implements a curriculum in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Our program offers many courses in all disciplines of chemistry, including Advanced Polymer Chemistry, Composite Materials, Green Chemistry and Sustainability, Computer-Aided Drug Design, Computational Chemistry, Advanced Organic Chemistry, and Advanced Analytical Chemistry, which will be taught using applied methods.

Graduates of our program will have the opportunity to find employment in numerous companies operating in the fields of polymer materials, composite materials, drug production and development, and high-tech material production. In addition, students currently working in the chemical industry will be able to make significant contributions to their companies' production, research, and development activities through our program.

Program Structure

The chemistry thesis-based master's program consists of a total of 21 credits, 7 courses, a seminar course, and a thesis. The seminar course and thesis are not credited and are graded as pass or fail. The duration of the thesis-based master's program is a minimum of four and a maximum of six semesters. The duration does not include the scientific preparation program. Semesters in which the student is not enrolled are included in the maximum duration.
